Biosketch
Dr. Nanpeng Yu received his B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from Tsinghua University, Beijing, China, in 2006. He earned two M.S. degrees, in Electrical Engineering and Economics, as well as a Ph.D. from Iowa State University in 2010. Prior to joining the University of California, Riverside, Dr. Yu served as a Senior Power System Planner and Project Manager at Southern California Edison from January 2011 to July 2014.
Dr. Nanpeng Yu is a Full Professor and Chair of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of California, Riverside. He is a recipient of the University of California Regents Faculty Fellowship and Regents Faculty Development Award. He has also received multiple Best Paper and Prize Paper Awards at prestigious international conferences, including the IEEE Power and Energy Society General Meeting, the IEEE Power and Energy Society Grand International Conference and Exposition Asia, and the Second International Conference on Green Communications, Computing, and Technologies.
Dr. Yu serves as the Director of the Energy, Economics, and Environment Research Center at the University of California, Riverside. He is also a cooperating faculty member in the Departments of Computer Science and Engineering and Statistics. He currently chairs the Career Promotion and Workforce Development Subcommittee of the IEEE Power and Energy Society, as well as the IEEE Power and Energy Society Working Group on Data-Driven Modeling, Monitoring, and Control for Power Distribution Networks. In addition, he serves as an Associate Editor for IEEE Power Engineering Letters and IEEE Open Access Journal of Power and Energy.
